Profile:

Ian McNeilA Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (Chartered MCIPD), Ian McNeil has experience in industry, the Civil Service and as a RAF Officer.

In 1997, he trained with Arthritis Care (AC) to deliver self-management courses, and to train staff and volunteers to deliver self-management and personal development programmes. He contributed to the development of Quality Assurance procedures that were adopted by the Long Term Medical Conditions Alliance (LMCA) and ultimately developed by the Expert Patients Programme (EPP). Ian became Head of Training Development and Quality for AC, with responsibility for training and self-management programmes and liaison with EPP and LMCA. Ian also trained self-management tutors from several UK organisations.

In 2002, he trained at Stanford University to acquire 'T-Trainer' status for arthritis and chronic disease programmes and later acted as moderator for Stanford's online self-management courses.

Ian served on EPP's Strategic Management Board before becoming Project Manager for 'EPP Online', a collaboration between Stanford University and the Department of Health. Since the successful conclusion of the Online Pilot in 2006, Ian continues to deliver self-management courses, train tutors and advise organisations. He currently serves on the Board of the Long Term Conditions Alliance Scotland (LTCAS).
