Jane Cooper: Honorary Research Fellow, Coventry University
Profile:
Jane Cooper is an independent consultant with over 15 years multi disciplinary experience of working within the Third Sector and NHS. She has been at the forefront of the development of lay led self-management for people living with long-term conditions for the past 10 years. She was Director of Self-Management at the Long-term Medical Conditions Alliance and was responsible for leading the introduction of the Chronic Disease Self-Management Course (CDSMC) to the UK voluntary sector. She has led the development of Ss2Q, a cross sector quality assurance framework and self-assessment tool for lay led self-management. Jane has a first class degree in Health Social Science and an MSc in Medical Sociology. She has a Certificate in Transactional Analysis Counselling and in January 2004 her contribution to the ongoing development of the knowledge base for lay led self-management was recognised with the award of an Honorary Research Fellowship from Coventry University. Jane is a PhD student at Coventry University exploring the potential of Ss2Q as a mechanism for supporting user involvement in the development and implementation of lay led self-management programmes across the World. Jane has Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance and has an enhanced CRB disclosure dated May 2008.
