Profile:

My career started with Marks & Spencer as a Staff Manager and, after a break to have two children, I returned to work in the voluntary sector with Action Aid, Barnardo’s and then Arthritis Care where I was responsible for the regional development of services.

I have been involved in lay-led self-management for over ten years.  I joined the Expert Patient Programme (EPP), at its inception as a DH pilot project, in the role of Senior Trainer,  managing the roll-out of the programme through Primary Care Trusts, recruiting and training lay-led deliverers and monitoring service delivery.   When EPP was set-up as a Community Interest Company in 2007 I became a Regional Manager covering a wide area in Eastern England and managing a large team of administrators, contract managers, trainers/tutors to deliver courses, as contracts were commissioned by organisations.

I have set-up as a freelance consultant in order to support the development of empowerment and self-management across communities; to enable organisations and individuals to realise their objectives.
